Why do I need a face serum as well as a moisturiser?
They perform different jobs.
The Hydrating Face Serum is a lightweight, water-based formula designed to deliver concentrated ingredients directly to clean skin. The Mattifying Moisturiser then supports hydration and the skin barrier while helping manage excess surface oil.
Using both allows each formula to perform its specific role rather than trying to make one product do everything.
Why does the Hydrating Face Serum go before moisturiser?
The serum’s lightweight structure is designed to deliver its concentrated ingredients directly to clean skin. It therefore goes on first, before the richer structure of the moisturiser.
This is particularly relevant to YCODE because men’s facial skin tends to be thicker, and the serum was developed as the deeper-working first stage of the routine.
Can I use Vitamin C with the Hydrating Face Serum?
Generally, yes. The YCODE Hydrating Face Serum does not contain Vitamin C, so using a separate Vitamin C product does not inherently duplicate it.
However, the complete formulation of any additional product matters. Strong actives such as retinoids or acidic forms of Vitamin C can cause irritation for some people, so introduce additional active products gradually and pay attention to how your skin responds.
