INGREDIENT INTELLIGENCE

Why none of the three YCODE Advanced Routine steps is redundant

Repetition reinforces the routine. Difference completes it. Each formula contributes ingredients, texture and a job that neither of the other two can replace.

Three formulas, three different jobs across the face and eye area

The Advanced Routine contains areas of deliberate overlap. It also contains three clear boundaries.

Each formula brings something the others cannot, which is why removing one changes the system rather than merely making it shorter.

Hydrating Face Serum: delivery, niacinamide and the first peptide

The face serum is the lightest step and the only formula in the routine built around niacinamide.

Niacinamide supports barrier function, texture, tone and oil balance. It sits alongside saccharide isomerate, hyaluronic acid, microalgae, prebiotics and benzoyl dipeptide-18.

Its unique job is to deliver this active system across the face and neck without leaving a heavy surface layer.

Mattifying Moisturiser: retention, finish and the second peptide

The moisturiser is the only protective emulsion in the routine.

Shea butter, coconut oil and caprylic/capric triglyceride soften the surface and support retention. Rice starch controls visible excess oil. Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 adds a peptide that is different from the one in the face serum.

Two peptides do not mean the same instruction delivered twice. They are distinct materials selected for different roles within skin quality.

The moisturiser’s unique job is to help hold hydration, reinforce the barrier and set a balanced matte finish.

Advanced Eye Serum: a different area and a same-day correction

The skin around the eye is thinner and presents a different combination of concerns: dark circles, puffiness, eye-bag volume, fine lines, smoothness and shadow.

Fucoidan, wild ginger, red algae minerals, pro-vitamin B5 and beetroot extract address those concerns on different timelines.

The eye serum also brings something no other product in the routine does. Its mineral tint changes how light leaves the skin from the first application. Three Melanin Adaptive formulas allow that optical correction to suit the skin tone rather than relying on one universal shade.

Coverage rather than accumulation

The routine’s value is not the length of its ingredient list. It is the number of necessary jobs covered without asking one formula to compromise its texture or purpose.

  • Face serum: deliver
  • Moisturiser: retain and balance
  • Eye serum: target and correct

The result is comprehensive without becoming complicated.

What the evidence shows at this stage

At day 14, the red algae material used in the eye serum improved skin smoothness by 26.1% against placebo.

By day 15, in the wild ginger assessment, 94% reported looking less tired, 90% reported reduced dark circles and 89% reported an improved eye contour.

In the combined face-product trial at four weeks, 88% said their moisture barrier felt stronger and 86% said excess oil was better controlled through the day.

Each result belongs to its own evidence source. Together, they show why the routine needs both overlap and specialisation.

You did not buy three versions of the same product. You bought three answers to three different problems, designed to fit into the same two minutes.

Here is to two minutes well spent.

Do the serum and moisturiser contain the same peptide?
No. The serum contains benzoyl dipeptide-18. The moisturiser contains palmitoyl tripeptide-5. They are different peptides with different roles.
Why does the eye area need a separate serum?
The eye area has thinner skin and a distinct concern set, including dark circles, puffiness, eye bags, fine lines and shadow.
What is Melanin Adaptive Technology?
The eye serum comes in three formulas with mineral tint adapted for different skin tones, rather than one universal shade.
Which step produces an immediate visual effect?
The mineral tint in Advanced Eye Serum helps alter the appearance of shadow from the first application.

I started YCODE because most skincare was never designed for men’s skin. What I write here is what the formulators taught me, and what the trials actually found.
