INGREDIENT INTELLIGENCE

What the first month of the YCODE Advanced Routine changes

The first application is three separate sensations. By one month, they should read as one result: smoother, fresher, better-balanced skin and an eye area that looks less tired.

Comparing the face in natural daylight after one month of the Advanced Routine

At the beginning, it is easy to judge each product alone.

The serum absorbs. The moisturiser changes the finish. The eye serum softens the appearance of shadow.

After several weeks, the useful question changes. What does the face look like as a whole?

What to compare

Take a photograph in the same natural light as the first one. Look for:

  • Smoother texture across the forehead and cheeks
  • A fresher, more even appearance
  • Less visible excess oil without dryness
  • Softer-looking dehydration lines
  • Less shadow and puffiness beneath the eyes
  • A face that looks better after a short night

Natural daylight matters because overhead bathroom light exaggerates hollows and texture. The original photograph matters because memory quickly accepts gradual improvement as normal.

What the two face products reported together

The Hydrating Face Serum and Mattifying Moisturiser were used together by 50 men for four weeks.

  • 94% said their skin felt hydrated and comfortable throughout the day
  • 92% recognised deep hydration and moisturisation working together
  • 90% said their skin stayed moisturised all day
  • 88% said their moisture barrier felt stronger
  • 86% said the products helped control excess oil throughout the day
  • 92% said stubble or beard felt less itchy

This is the practical face result: hydration that lasts, a barrier that feels stronger and oil control that does not rely on dryness.

What has happened around the eyes

The eye serum runs on several clocks.

Within 15 minutes, wild ginger had its first participant-reported figures. At day seven, fucoidan produced placebo-controlled changes in dark circles and crow’s feet. At day 14, red algae minerals improved smoothness by 26.1% against placebo. At day 28, the same red algae material produced 9.9% higher hydration and 7.8% lower water loss.

These are ingredient-level findings attributed to the materials used around the eyes. They explain why the eye result continues developing after the first optical correction.

Why the face begins to read differently

Smoother skin reflects light more evenly. Better hydration reduces the rough edges that create small shadows. Less excess oil removes distracting shine. Reduced puffiness changes the ridge beneath the eye and therefore the shadow it holds.

The result is not one dramatic transformation. It is several smaller improvements pointing in the same direction: younger, fresher and less tired.

What happens next

One month is the complete checkpoint for the face-product trials. The eye area continues to two months, when three-dimensional measurements show what has happened to eye-bag volume.

Next, read How consistency changes the baseline of your skin.

The purpose of the routine is not to look as though you use three products. It is to look like a man who looks after himself, without having to think very hard about it.

Here is to two minutes well spent.

When should I judge the Advanced Routine?
Notice immediate feel and finish on day one, compare photographs at 15 days and one month, then judge the complete eye-area arc at two months.
Were all three finished products tested together?
The Hydrating Face Serum and Mattifying Moisturiser were tested together as finished products. The eye serum is supported by separate ingredient-level studies, including instrumental and placebo-controlled work.
Why should I use natural light for comparison?
Overhead bathroom lighting exaggerates shadows and texture. Consistent natural light makes comparison more useful.
What should improve after a short night?
Look at freshness, hydration, surface texture, under-eye shadow and how tired the eye contour appears.

I started YCODE because most skincare was never designed for men’s skin. What I write here is what the formulators taught me, and what the trials actually found.
