How to apply YCODE Hydrating Face Serum properly

Serum first, across the whole face and neck. The correct dose, order and coverage take around ten seconds and allow every later step to work as intended.

The best application method is complete enough to work and simple enough to repeat without thought.

Most missed areas are predictable: the hairline, temples, neck and the skin beneath facial hair. Ten seconds is enough to cover all of them.

Begin with clean skin

Use Hydrating Face Serum after cleansing or showering. If you shave, apply it afterwards. Shaving first removes hair and surface material; serum then supports the skin you have just exposed.

Pat the face dry. It does not need to be left visibly wet.

Use the right dose

Dispense the recommended amount into one palm, then lightly press both palms together. This distributes the formula without losing time rubbing it into the hands.

Smooth it across the forehead, cheeks, nose, jaw and neck. Take it right up to the hairline and slightly into it. Work it through stubble or a beard so it reaches the skin underneath.

Complete, even coverage matters more than repeatedly working the same central area.

Apply the routine in the right order

The YCODE order is:

  1. Hydrating Face Serum on clean skin
  2. Mattifying Moisturiser once the serum has absorbed
  3. Advanced Eye Serum around the full eye area

The light serum goes first so its water-based system and targeted actives can reach the skin cleanly. Moisturiser follows to support the barrier and help hold hydration in place.2 Eye serum is then applied precisely to the specialised skin around the eyes.

Let it absorb

Give the serum a few seconds to absorb before the next step. The skin should feel hydrated rather than coated.

There is no need for hard rubbing. A few smooth passes create an even layer. Once the formula has disappeared into the skin, stop.

Morning and night

Morning use supports the skin through washing, shaving, weather, travel and indoor air. Evening use restores the step after the day is over.

Consistency matters more than turning the application into a ceremony. Around ten seconds, twice a day, is enough. That is how the finished serum was used in the independent four-week trial.1

Where to go next

For what the formula is doing while you apply it, read what YCODE Hydrating Face Serum does from the first use. For why the moisturiser is a separate job rather than a repeat of the same one, read serum and moisturiser, explained.

Good skincare should fit the morning you actually have. The craft belongs in the formula. The application should remain uncomplicated.

Here is to two minutes well spent.

Does face serum go before moisturiser?
Yes. Apply Hydrating Face Serum first and allow it to absorb before Mattifying Moisturiser.
Should I apply it to my neck?
Yes. Cover the full face and neck, including the hairline, temples and skin beneath facial hair.
Can I use it after shaving?
Yes. Apply it after shaving to clean, dry skin.
How long should I wait before moisturiser?
A few seconds is normally enough. Continue when the serum has absorbed and no wet layer remains.
Can I use it without moisturiser?
Yes. The serum performs on its own. Mattifying Moisturiser adds a complementary layer that helps support retention, barrier function and surface balance.2

I started YCODE because most skincare was never designed for men’s skin. What I write here is what the formulators taught me, and what the trials actually found.
